Horace Joseph Legier the son of Michelle and Esilda (Fruge’) Legier was born June 6, 1928 in Churchpointe, Louisiana and departed this life on October 10, 2018 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 4 days.
Horace enjoyed life and he loved being outdoors. As a young man growing up he enjoyed hunting rabbits, squirrels, dove and deer. He also enjoyed fishing. In his later years in Oklahoma he mainly fished at Tenkiller and Ft. Gibson Lakes and he would deer hunt. Fishing became his passion and he fished all the time, but if he wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed being outdoors watching the birds and squirrels. He was a faithful member of the 29Eleven Church in Tahlequah. He enjoyed going dancing at the Senior Citizen Center. Horace loved to plant a garden and work in the garden so that he could harvest the vegetables and share them with his neighbors. He was a true health nut and he would tell anyone what they needed to eat to be healthy. He began juicing in the 60’s when he purchased a big stainless-steel juicer and he continued from then on with his health craze. He never met a stranger, always talking and being friendly to all God put in his path. In his later years you would find him out in the back yard watching the birds and listening to Southern Gospel, Big Band, or Cajun music of some kind. Horace touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Catherine Legier; his great grandson KJ Rowe and 9 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his son Allen Legier and wife Cheryl of Tahlequah; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
