Memorial services for Virgil Chuculate
will be conducted on December 14th, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Reed-Culver
Chapel with Pastor Kevin Davis officiating. His final resting place will
be Barber Cemetery in Cherokee County. Online condolences for his

Virgil Chuculate was born on Monday, October 3rd, 1938 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Garland Faddis and Ruby Chuculate Davis. Besides himself, there were nine other brothers and sisters. He attended school, worked in the fields and had a natural gift of understanding mechanics. Virgil chose Machinist as a profession and owned his own business for a number of years. He was the proud father of four children, Teonie, Tonya, Virgil and Marti. Virgil loved the great outdoors, and looked forward each year to hunting season, it didn’t matter if it were hogs or buck he was ready to go. Virgil also loved motorcycles, drag racing, and boating/fishing. He was a hard-working, kind and loving man that was always there to help others in time of need. Virgil loved his children and grandchildren; his whole face would light up and would smile broadly at just the sight or sound of his precious grandchildren. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage. Virgil passed from this life on November 22nd, 2018 in North Richland Hills TX, he was 80 years old and will be greatly missed by those that loved him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, one brother, Richard Davis and one sister, Dolly Looney.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Teonie Chuculate Aurelio and husband John of Keller, TX, Tonya Chuculate of Fort Worth TX, Virgil B. Chuculate of Fort Worth TX and Marti Chuculate McDonald and fiancé Justin of Midlothian, TX. He leaves his brothers and sisters, Raymond Davis, Charles Davis, Andrew Davis, James Davis, Sue Buckhorn, Bonnie Davis, and Wanda Ridge. Virgil lives on in ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Melissa McCullough, Logan Connell, Kyle Connell, Ashton Hendon, Hollie Rusche, Sarah Bagley, Jena Chuculate, Ella Chuculate, Sidney Chuculate, and Blade Mc Donald. The great grandchildren include Kiley Whetter, Skylar McCullough, Hayden Connell, Landon Rusche, Austin Rusche, Braxton Rusche and Quintin Bagley.

Thomas G. Mooney was born on October 12, 1948 in Tulsa, OK and passed away on December 1, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK
TThomas George Mooney was born on October 12, 1948 to Walter ‘Bill’ and Wylodean Mooney. He grew up in Mounds, Oklahoma as an only child who enjoyed the freedom and simplicity of small-town life. He kept his parents on their toes with his antics from an early age. As a toddler he followed his beloved puppy down the railroad tracks which resulted in a full-scale search by neighbors and local authorities. His tales of childhood were varied and full of adventures. Tom began assisting his father Bill, a sign painter, as a teenager. They developed a special friendship during the hours spent together working and remained extremely close throughout life.
After graduating from Mounds High School in 1966. Tom traveled across Europe with other Methodist youth from the state. This was a high point for him as he always loved to travel. Following this he attended Oklahoma City University. Transitioning from a graduating class of 24 students to a university setting was an eye-opening experience. He thrived on the pranks and fun of dorm life but still received a solid education graduating with a bachelor’s degree in History. Tom went on to receive a Master’s degree in History from Tulsa University.
He was thrilled to land a job in Tahlequah at the Cherokee National Historical Society (CNHS). His mother’s family had lived in the Tahlequah area since before statehood which of course appealed to his love of history. Tom began work in 1976 under the direction of Col. Martin Hagerstrand who was a great inspiration. Just as CNHS was known as Tsa-La-Gi and The Cherokee Heritage Center over the years, Tom also learned to go by many titles over his years; from curator to printing press operator to extra in the Trail of Tears Drama to interim director, to author and editor, to archivist. Serving in various capacities enabled him to help the museum in unique ways. In 1987 he authored “Exploring Your Cherokee Ancestry’ which is still in print today. He received numerous awards over the years including the Stalward Award and Samuel Worcester Award. After dedicating almost four decades to preserving Cherokee history and culture he retired in 2014.
Tom was truly one of a kind. He contained a wealth of knowledge and impacted many in the community and beyond. He enjoyed genealogy, playing games, good-spirited political debates, Broadway musicals, old movies, Quora and spoiling his grandchildren. Overflowing with wit, he loved to joke and play pranks; all who knew him quickly learned of his quirky humor.
A Christian from childhood, Tom lived his faith daily. He was a member at D.D. Etchieson United Methodist Church until earlier this year when he joined Crossway Baptist Church, to worship with his family. Thankful for all God’s blessings, Tom served in various capacities everywhere he attended. Being active in the community was important to Tom. Following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps, Tom became a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served in various positions as a Mason and had 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite. In addition to supporting the Thompson House and Tahlequah Community Playhouse, Tom gave back to the community as a blood donor as often as possible.
None of these factoids and tidbits can sum up the incredible soul he was. His kindness, strength, generosity, dedication and wisdom will be greatly missed. God blessed him with a full and colorful life. He leaves behind a legacy that can’t be matched, with stories and memories that will live on in all who knew him.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Wylodean Mooney and his son, Timothy Mooney. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the love of his life and best friend, Robin. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Derek Dietz and beloved grandchildren Aliza and Korbin. He also leaves behind a multitude of cousins, extended family and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to the Tahlequah Community Playhouse where Tom enjoyed many years as a theatergoer and supporter.

JORDAN – age 73 of Tahlequah, OK. Grocery Store Owner. Died Thursday, November
29th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday,
December 4th, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Brigid Catholic Church.
Interment to follow at 2:00pm at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be
conducted for Archie Leo Jordan on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 at 10:00
am at St. Brigid Catholic Church with Father Stuart Crevcoure
officiating. The family will be receiving guest from 3:00 pm until 5:00
pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. His Rosary will be recited Monday,
December 3rd, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel. He will be buried
with full Army Honors from Ft. Sill at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery at
2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018. Online condolences may be left

He attended school and then began his career in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for 20 years as a transportation specialist, tank Commander, construction Engineering Supervisor, and Technical Engineering Supervisor and was awarded the Army Commendation medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Sharpshooter. He met and married the love of his life, ChangSun “Rachel” while serving in South Korea. On August 14th, 1968 they were wed and together, they raised a family of one son and two daughters, Tina Gillhooley and husband Jim of Lakeview, MI, John Jordan of Tahlequah, OK, and Sally Jordan, also of Tahlequah, OK. There was nothing that made Archie happier than meeting new friends and seeing new places. He loved people and it showed, he was quick to tease and flirt, but would invite you to dinner or offer to help you whenever you needed his assistance. He was creative and enjoyed writing poetry and music. When it came to the important things in his life, his family was always first and foremost. There wasn’t anything he wouldn't do for his children or his adored grandchildren, Rhiannon, Liam, Maya and Dani. He worked alongside his wife Rachel, in Copperas Cove, Texas, and together they owned and operated a Korean Grocery Store, and when he was there, it was serving customers in the personal way, with a smile. He also worked for a time as a Prison Guard for the State of Texas. The family moved to Tahlequah, Archie loved the friends he made and the surrounding countryside. He placed his trust in the Lord, and the Lord took this good and faithful servant home from his labors on November 29th, 2018, at his home surrounded by those who knew and loved him. He was 73 years old. Archie will be greatly missed by all those who knew and trusted him.
