Toys for TOY RUN on December 2, 2018

The Cherokee County Car Club will be having their annual

Toy Run starting at 2 o'clock on Sunday, December 2, 2018

914 S. Muskogee Avenue

will be collecting new, unopened toys to donate to the run.

Please drop your toys off at the office by November 30, 2018.

These toys will be given to Cherokee County Children.

 Garrett Brannon Hawkins, 20, passed away on November 2, 2018 in Fort Smith
Arkansas. Garrett was born December 11, 1997 in Tulsa, OK. He attended Southside High School and was a graduate of Tahlequah High School and a member of the Cherokee Nation. He had proudly enlisted in the US Air Force and was formerly employed by Harps grocery store. Garrett was preceded in death by his brother, Coder Vance

Funeral Service is 10:00AM Friday, November 9th, 2018 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas officiated by Reverend Jackie Flake. Burial will be at a later date in Tahlequah City Cemetery.

He is survived by Gary and Jackie Hamilton of Fort Smith, AR.; four sisters Kourtney Raff, Carol Guffy, Tory Snell, and Davyn Smith, two brothers Bryan and S'jon Vance and his mother Tamara Vance all of Tahlequah, OK; bonus brothers, Dallas, Ryan, Shawn and Shea Hamilton, bonus sisters, Taylor, Payton and Kelsey Hamilton all of Fort Smith, Arkansas and by his best friend Liz.

Pallbearers are Gary, Taylor, Payton, Ryan and Kelsey Hamilton and Gene Raff.

Honorary Pallbearers are the people who helped rescue and guide Garrett: Sam Sicard, Ken Kupchick, B.J. Morehead, Aaron Jenner, Ashley Burkley, Laurie Burnett, Jeff Taylor and the staff of First National Bank.

Garrett loved the special people who helped him through a difficult time in his life and was so very grateful for the life he was given by their help. He loved his “special moms" Kourtney and Ms. Jackie! He loved music, food, playing games with Dallas, riding four wheeler's at the farm with Ryan, making people laugh, eating ice cream and being silly with Maddy and Arthur. And we loved him!

The family will meet with friends from 5-7PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Obituary for Hurst "Hershel" Faucett III

Hurst “Hershel” Faucett III was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 18, 1941, to Hurst Faucett Jr. And Mittie (Kyle) Faucett.

He passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 5, 2018, at the age of 76 years 11 months and 16 days.

Hershel grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama where he graduated high school. He entered and served in the National Guard, US Army and Army Reserve.

He and Rose married in Columbus, Georgia on December 28, 1968.

He attended Auburn University ..........“Go War Eagles”.

Hershel began work in the grocery business and did so for 27 years working up to store manager.
He would then open his own landscaping company, Faucett and Son Landscaping. He was also CEO of NCADC.....the Navarro County Agency for Disabled Citizens for 15 years. He and Rose were house parents there taking care of mentally challenged adults


Hershel retired from Northeastern Health System after going back to work, because he did not find retired life as enjoyable as expected.

Hershel loved his Yorkies, old cars, and keeping his flower beds clean and free of weeds.

He was a member of the Shriners where he held the office of President, a member of the Lions Club, and Optimist Club, and the Braums Ice Cream Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Hurst Faucett IV.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 50 years, Rose Marie Faucett; nine children, Traci Varner and husband Larry, Rodney Faucett, Rita Rash and husband Lowell, Debbie Beckett, Jolene Rash and husband Darrell, Heather Martin and husband Josh, Michele Duckson and husband Tim, David Faucett and wife Davina, Umesh Shakya and wife Anita; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three siblings, Brenda Michael, Glenna Youngblood and husband Roy, and Kirby Faucett and wife Sharon; several nieces and nephews and many other friends.
