Funeral services for Deborah June “June
Bug” Carey-Hall will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2019 at 10:00 Am
with Brother Sam Keener officiating. Her visitation will be held on
Thursday, September 5th, 2019 beginning at 1:00 Pm until 6:00 PM at
Reed-Culver Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Keener Cemetery in

Deborah June “June Bug” Carey-Hall was born on Wednesday, October 7th, 1959 in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Geneva (Welch) Dirteater. She had three brothers and three sisters, Rodney, David, Ronald, Donna, Connie, and Eva, Deborah was the youngest girl. She grew up in Cherokee County, where she loved to play basketball and softball for Lost City and Hulbert Schools. At age 18 she had a baby boy, Larry Joe Bowlin. She was a loving mother, working many jobs to make ends meet. She worked at Sequoyah State Park as the Park Office Manager. In 1990, she met Jeff Hall from Ankeny, IA and she married her best friend in 1993, living in Tahlequah, OK for the past 18 years. She worked at both WW Hastings and Northeastern Health Care as a medical transcriptionist, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Whenever she wasn’t working, you could find June Bug 4-wheeling, and meeting up with family and friends camping, usually at the lake or Clear Creek. She wasn’t the kind that minded a little dirt and was quite the daredevil. 1994 found her with a diagnosis of Lupus, it was hard for her to accept, and there were days that she struggled, but she never gave up. She always took care of the family that mattered more to her than life itself. In 2009 she was blessed with a grandson, Benton Joe Bowlin. He was her ray of sunshine and she was so proud to be his Grandma. Spending time with him was always very special for her. As part of her bucket list, Deborah took her family on a trip to the mountains of Colorado. Camping and four wheeling along the way to 4 Corners and the Grand Canyon area. She loved being out doors and wanted Benton to have memories of summer vacation with his family. Deborah and Jeff moved to the Woodall area in 2008, and spent the last 11 years in the house they adored. She never lost her faith in God, never gave up on getting her health under control, positive to the end, that was the fighter in Deborah. The Lord called this remarkable wife, sister, mother and Grandmother home from her labors on Saturday, August 31st, 2019 in Tahlequah with those she loved close by. She was 59 years old and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jeffrey Hall of the home and her son, Joe Bowlin of Amarillo, TX. She leaves her brothers and sisters, Rodney Carey, David Ledbetter and wife Susan all of Hulbert, OK, Ronald Carey of Tahlequah, Donna Nichols and husband David of Tulsa, Connie Carey and companion Tommy Bridges of Tulsa, and Eva Hildreth and husband Keith of Durham, NC. She leaves one aunt, Drew Pratt of Claremore, OK. She will live on in her grandson, Bento Joe Bowlin of Woodall, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

visitors on Thursday, September 5th, 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM until
7:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at

Dewayne Martin McMurtrey was born on Thursday, January 15th, 1959 in Topeka, KS, the son of Herman Ray and Retta Sue (Duncan) McMurtrey. He grew up with two sisters, Debra and Diane. He graduated Stilwell High School in 1977 and then obtained his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University. He had one son Stephen McMurtrey from his first marriage. He married Susan Hale and together they raised a family of one daughter Suezanne. He made his living as an Electrical Engineer working for the FAA, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was always working for his children, coaching baseball and soccer for his son and his daughter’s softball team for over 8 years. In one of his more recent past times he enjoyed throwing knives with his daughter. He loved the great outdoors, and there you could find him hunting, going on hunting trips with his father and son, smoking meat or planning an outdoor BBQ. He enjoyed studying, some of his favorite subjects being calligraphy, Spanish and Greek language, and of course, his Bible which he read from cover to cover twice over the past year. He loved OU football, playing board games with his family, bowling, and the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance with Suezanne. He was always happy just to spend quality time at home with his family, they were his pride and joy. A Christian by faith, he attended the Bethel Community Church. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labors on Saturday, August 31st, 2019 in Sallisaw, OK with his loved ones close by. He was 60 years old and will not be forgotten soon.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and his grandparents.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Susan McMurtrey of the Yukon, OK, and his children, Stephen Dewayne McMurtrey and wife Mary of Sapulpa, OK, and Suezanne Marie McMurtrey of Yukon, OK. Jacqulyn Ann Smith was born on Tuesday, February 2nd, 1982 in Muskogee, OK, the daughter of Richard A. Frye and Annette Louise Smith. She attended Tahlequah High School. She was the proud mother of four children, Alexandra, Ethan, Randall “Peanut”, and Brayden. She was happiest when playing and following sports with her kids, it didn’t matter if it was football, baseball, hockey or anything they tried, Jackie was there. She was always listening to music and it didn’t matter what genres of music, she liked them all. She was rather quiet and shy, but always seemed to make people feel at ease and made friends with everyone. She loved time spent with Sherri, her brother, Brandon, and her children. Family was what kept her strong. Jackie loved life and all that there was to enjoy in it. Her life ended all too soon on Saturday, August 31st, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK, with those she loved around her. She was 37 years old. She has left a void that cannot be filled. She is preceded in death by her mother, and her grandparents, Eugene and Mary Magdalene Frye and DJ and Mary Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving companion, Sherri Mouse of the home. She leaves her children, Alexandra Scott, Ethan Gentry, Randall “Peanut” Gentry, and Brayden Smith all of the home. There are also three new additions to the family, Tye Mouse, Aiden Mouse, and Skyler Mouse. She leaves her father, Richard Frye and her brother, Brandon Smith also of the home. She leaves one aunt, Rhonda Foster of Georgia and one uncle, Bill Mabry also of Georgia. There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Dr. Isabel Louise Keith Baker, age 90 passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019. She was the daughter of Claude and Hattie Mae Keith and was born on May 27, 1929 in Row, Oklahoma later named Colcord.
She married her husband Tim Baker on July 26, 1946 and they were the proud parents of three sons Tim K., Donn and Bill John Baker.
For over forty-three (43) years, Dr. Isabel Baker served in public education. Her teaching career began in 1950 at the age of twenty (20), after she received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Northeastern State University. Isabel was twenty-three (23) with three children when she received her master’s degree
from OSU. She later received her Doctorate from Oklahoma State University. Her public-school career has included positions at Shidler, Sapulpa and Tahlequah. In Higher Education, she taught at Morehead State University, Northeastern State University and Oklahoma State University.
She was appointed to the Oklahoma State University Board of Regents by Governor David Walters in 1991. She was recognized as a champion of gender equality and was the recipient of several awards for those endeavors. She was a member of Oklahoma Woman’s Hall of Fame, Oklahoma State University Hall of Fame, Distinguished Alumnus at OSU, Oklahoma Mother of the Year and many other honorary awards. Dr. Baker served on the Board of Directors of the Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce and was selected as a Board Member of the Year in 2010. She also served as a Board of Director with the Bank of Cherokee County and was the first woman in sixty years to serve as a Board Director with Tahlequah Public Works. In addition to her tireless work for her church she held many state and national offices with the Democratic Party. For a girl that grew up in the depression, she relished the opportunity to help others lift themselves up out of poverty through education.
She was a lifelong resident of Tahlequah and will be missed by many. In addition to her surviving brother Bill Keith and his wife Vivian, she leaves her son Tim Keith and his wife Diana, Donn and his wife Sharon and Bill John and his wife Sherry. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
