The spirit of Billy George Keys passed from this earth on February 28, 2020. He was 87 years old and he is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Joyce, son Billy, and grandson Henry. He was proceeded in death by his mother Lenora, father, Henry, and siblings Henry, Irene, Lloyd, Geraldine, and Wanda Jean. He loved his family as much or more than any man I’ve ever met and that included his extended family and his friends as well.
Billy was born in Malvern, AR and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1961 and afterward lived in California until recently returning to live in Tahlequah where he could live among the Cherokee people and culture in the place where several generations of his ancestors lived after forced removal from their homelands in the South.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Santa Clara, CA and the American Legion. He loved all sports (favorite sports team Oakland Raiders), NDN bingo, and to express his curiousity and communicate with the world through his iPad computer. He was loved and will be missed by many.
