Karen Lynn (Murphy) Miller was born on Friday, June 21st, 1974, in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Timmy and Shirley Ann (Beaver) Murphy. She was raised in a home with two brothers and two sisters, Shannon, Mose, Jennifer, and Tamara. She also had a cousin that she held in her heart like a sister, Jamie. She grew up chasing her siblings through the yard, going to school, and generally having a good time. After graduating high school, she settled into an accounting career, working as an accounting clerk. She had the perfect personality as she never hurried, but always paced herself and checked details, hence her nickname, “Speedy”. When she wasn’t working, she was looking after and raising her son, Hunter and a cousin, Skylar who was more like a second son. There was nothing Karen liked better than to be out doors, soaking up the sunshine, breeze in her hair, collecting rocks and flowers, working in her flower beds, and gardening. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage and practiced the time honored traditions such as beadwork, making beautiful intricate patterns. Long before you saw her, you would hear her melodious laughter, it rang out sweet and clear. She was beautiful on the outside and the inside, always looking to help others that needed her. She couldn’t wait to gather with her family for a special meal and would showcase her talents in the kitchen, she made the best chicken and dumplings and her frybread was the best around. She loved making the holiday s special with her added little touches, and any chance to spend the day with her family was really a good day. A Christian by faith, she attended Salem Baptist and Sycamore Baptist Church in her youth. She was her son’s biggest fan, and kept up with all of his activities. She passed from this life on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by those who loved her. She was 45 years old. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Timmy Murphy and her grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Hunter Miller of Tahlequah, OK, her beloved mother, Shirley Ann Beaver-Murphy of Tahlequah, OK, and Skylar Murphy also of Tahlequah, OK. There are two brothers and two sisters, Shannon Beaver and Mose Murphy both of Tahlequah, OK and Jennifer Murphy and Tamara Murphy and companion Charles Clinton of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves her sister by heart, Jamie Studie-Dick and husband Alden Dick also of Tahlequah, OK. She leaves a very dear friend, Frankie Hargis, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
