Alma Bernice (Booth) Drywater, or known by many as Granny or Grandma, was born on January 11th, 1921 in Moody, OK, the daughter of Cicero and Mary Effie (Pike) Booth. Bernice had been a lifelong resident of Tahlequah and was known for being a hard worker and a woman of strength. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was proud to have 100 grandchildren. She enjoyed holding her grandbabies and loved her large family very much. Everyone knew her as “granny” and her home was always open to those needing a meal and a place to stay. Those who visited were privileged to be around her great sense of humor and to hear her wonderful laugh. Her chicken and dumplings were a favorite at holiday gatherings.
Bernice had a love for gardening and enjoyed giving tours of her beautiful flowers and roses. Every spring she planted a vegetable garden and enjoyed tending to her chickens, ducks and guineas. She loved collecting dolls and had them proudly displayed. Bernice passed from this life to her heavenly home on August 10th, 2019 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 98.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Drywater, two sons, Richard Drywater and wife Donna and Bennie Joe Drywater of Tahlequah, two daughters, Wilma Chapman and husband Richard of Tulsa and Martha Force of Moody, five brothers, Ed Booth, Mark Booth, Don Booth, James Dawson and Denzil Dawson, one sister, Hazel Jones, one grandson Chance Drywater and one infant great-great grandson, Randall Huffman of Tahlequah.
Those left to treasure her memory include one son, Darrell Drywater of Tahlequah, three daughters, Carol Huffman of Tahlequah, Carrie Godwin of Tahlequah and Mary Clarkson and husband Randy of Bixby, one cousin, Dorothy Mae Martin of Hermleigh, TX, 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
