Martha Judith (Watson) Little, or Marty to her family, was born on February 5th, 1944, the daughter of Lawson E. and Gladys (Reed) Watson. After graduating high school, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree. Following her passion for music and love of piano, she taught music at Chase Elementary School in Kansas and also conducted private piano lessons for many years. When Martha wasn’t busy teaching others, she played piano and organ for the Presbyterian Church of Kansas, until she moved to Arizona in 1985. She would later relocate to Cookson, OK and develop her own business in 1995, Boats Unlimited. Allowing her to build some amazing friendships with her loyal customers that always found time to stop by for a chat. Martha was the loving wife of Bill Little and proud mother of three very strong-willed children, earning them the prefix of “Damn-It” as she called their names. To her “perfect” grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was the best “Nana” anyone could ask for. She was always supportive of her family whether it was attending their ballgames or taking the time to fly to Arizona for graduation. Her family was her heart and she made the most of every moment with them. Some of the best times were riding four wheelers with Logan, riding three wheelers with Heath or an outing to Little Sahara for a family trip. Her door was always open especially when it came time for Sunday Dinner. She was known for her home made jellies and jams as well as everyone’s favorite, peanut butter pie. Martha was the most giving soul and gladly made sacrifices for others in need. On June 3rd, 2019, at the age of 75, this amazing women was called from her labors. The love she gave to so many will be remembered forever.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Margaret Compton and Mary Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Heath Little and wife Tracy of Cookson, OK and two daughters, Dawn Summerlin and husband Ronnie of Vian, OK and Kala Little of Prairie Grove, AR. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Jessica Warden, Dalton Moore, Katie Carnes and husband Shane, Blake Parker, Wyatt and Logan Little, Bobby and Ayla Summerlin, great grandchildren, Tessie Carnes, Jaxi and Jema Warden, and Finley Summerlin-Beesley as well as many niece, nephew, and a host of friends and loved ones.
