Obituary of Michael "Boco" Edward O'Field

Funeral services for Michael Edward O’Field will be conducted on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Elm Tree Baptist Church in Tahlequah, OK with Reverend DJ McCarter officiating. His visitation will be conducted on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Clear Springs Cemetery in Stilwell, OK next to his family. Online condolences for his family may be left at www.reedculver.com. Michael Edward O’Field , or” Boco” to his many family and friends, was born on Thursday, February 24th, 1966 in Claremore, OK, the son of James Edward and Bobbie Jean (Gourd) O’Field. He was raised in a family with three brothers and one sister, Darrel, Marcus, Brandon and Rhonda. He attended and graduated from high school then settled on a career as a Substance Abuse Technician, working at the Jack Brown Center. He loved his job, loved helping people when they needed it most, and was faithful to his commitment of 17 years at his job. When he wasn’t working, he could be found playing a round of golf, playing cornhole, Cherokee marbles or he loved to fish. He was a sports enthusiast and watched football and any other sporting competition on TV. Michael also enjoyed getting the answers to Wheel of Fortune. There was nothing better for Boco than a day spent in the company of his family and his grandchild. He admired everything they accomplished. He married Veronica Jones in 1987 in Bunch, OK, and together they raised a family of one daughter and one son, Baron Michael O’Field and wife Tesina of Tahlequah and Kayce Jennifer O’Field, also of Tahlequah, OK. He had a wonderful grandson named Mason Samuel O’Field, and they were the best friends ever! Boco was proud of his Cherokee heritage, and was a warm and kind hearted man, always ready to go the extra mile with those who needed his advice or company. A Christian by faith, the Lord called this good and faithful caregiver home from his many labors on November 28th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK with his loved ones by his side. He was 52 years old. He leaves a void that will be very hard to fill. Michael is preceded in death by his father James, one brother, Brandon Keith O’Field, and one sister, Rhonda Lynn Snow. Those left to cherish his memory include loving wife, Veronica of the home in Tahlequah, his mother, Bobbie Jean Gourd O’Field, and his children, Baron O’Field and wife Tesina of Tahlequah and Kayce Jennifer O’Field also of Tahlequah. He is survived ny his brothers, Darrel Wayne and Marcus Ryan O’Field both of Tahlequah. He lives on in his beautiful grandson, Mason Samuel O’Field as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend and loved ones.

Funeral services for Elmer Lee Koehn, 90, of Tahlequah, OK., will be held 2:00, Friday, November 30, 2018. Officiating will be Reverend Kelly Payne. Elmer Koehn was born on August 26, 1928 in Hillsdale, OK the son of John C. and Kaite (Schmidt) Koehn.

He passed away on November 27, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK.

Elmer and Elizabeth married on February 6, 1949, in Goltry, OK and shared nearly 63 years of marriage until her recent passing in 2012.

Elmer loved people. He learned their names, asked about their families, and prayed for them. He loved to share his faith with everyone he met.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, his parents; brothers Lloyd and Paul Koehn; sisters Edna Unruh and Sophia Nightingale.

He is survived by children, Katherine Koehn of Park Hill, OK,
Marcella Fletcher, and husband John of Park Hill, OK, Mark Koehn, and wife Elaine of Holden, MO, and Marvin Koehn, and wife Grace of Ill; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Frankie Cornell Wofford was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on January 31, 1947 to Frank Eldridge and Lillian Harriet (Wilder) Wofford. He passed away peacefully at his home on November 24, 2018,

Frank was a lifelong resident of Tahlequah. He was a 1965 graduate of Tahlequah High School and attended Northeastern State University. Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 and served until 1969 being honorably discharged. Following his discharge in 1969, he began a 30 year career with Southwestern Bell.

Frank married the love of his life on June 20, 1968 during his military time. During their 50 year marriage they were blessed with three children.

He enjoyed going hunting and fishing and was an avid all sports fan of the Tahlequah Tigers, Locust Grove and OU. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and family members participate in high school sports of any kind.

Frank has been preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Wofford; and son, James Anthony Wofford.

He leaves behind his wife, Teresa of the home; children, Amy Bailey and husband Robert of Peggs, Oklahoma, and John C. Wofford and wife Deidra of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jacob Wofford and Katie, Justin Bailey and Ryann, Tyler Wofford, Zachery Bailey, Kailey Muskrat and Kelsey Muskrat; one great grandson Ethan Cornell Wofford; and one great grandson Austin Bailey, soon to arrive; also his brother, John M. Wofford and wife Laura; and sister Sue D. Wofford-Root and husband Ronald; and many extended family members, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Sue Stiglets announces her passing, on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the age of 83 years.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children and their significant others: Mike Stiglets and Janell Clausen of Harrah, Oklahoma; Marcus and Nancy Stiglets of Hamilton, Virginia; Susan Stiglets of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; Guy Stiglets of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Shelley and Michael Baker of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Judy Hadley of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and by her 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandson. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Melvin Stiglets and by her brother Charles Russell “Rusty” Hadley.
Mary was born Mary Sue Hadley on April 27, 1935 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was a life-long resident of Eastern Oklahoma and made her home in Tahlequah for the last 30 years. She was an active member of the Keetoowah Tribe, serving on the Tribal Council for 10 years. She was an avid traveler and loved horses and horse racing.
A Funeral Service in memory of Mary will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, with Rev. Nathan Covington officiating. Interment will follow.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Mary to the American Cancer Society.

Betty Jane Loftin Myres was born on Thursday, April 23rd, 1931 in Hulbert, OK, the daughter of Charley and Virginia “Virgie” Victoria (Scott) Loftin. She was raised in a family with four brothers and four sisters, Tom, Pete, Sue, Jim, Bob, Ruby, Daisy and Hazel. She attended and graduated from Hulbert High School, then began her college classes at NSU. While walking to the movies, she met a handsome young man who offered to accompany her, and that’s how Betty met Willie Lee Myres. They were wed on January 5th, 1954 in Tahlequah, OK, and together they raised a daughter, Sherrie and a son, Lee Steven. They were each others constant companions for 60 years of marriage. Betty was a homemaker by choice, nothing made her happier than to take care of Bill, the children and grandchildren. She loved working in her flower gardens, searching family genealogy and spending time reading a good scary book. Betty could go in the thrift stores and come out with the cutest fashions, especially shoes. There was nothing better than a day at the creek swimming with her family, or making homemade blackberry jam. Betty was intelligent, organized, serious and down to earth. She kept her household running like clockwork. She loved her family and fur babies along with every chance she had to enjoy a meal or holiday with her family. She was inquisitive and always kept informed of the latest news of the world and how it affected her and those she loved. Her beloved Bill passed from this life in October 2017, and Betty stayed close to the family she loved for support. Her journey ended on November 25th, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty is preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, Thomas and Susie Scott and Cornelius and Nancy (Burris) Loftin, her brothers, Pete and Tom, and her sisters, Sue Burgess, Ruby Kerns, Daisy Mosher, and Hazel Partain. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sherrie Walker and husband Cliff of Siloam Springs, AR, and Lee Steven Myres and wife Kristi of Welling, OK. She leaves her siblings, Jim Loftin and wife Jewel of Tahlequah, and Bob Loftin of Coyle, OK. She lives on in her two granddaughters, Kylee Myres and Krista Myres also of Welling and a very special niece, Pam Vahdatipour and husband Hamid of Tahlequah, OK, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Boyd Dee Smith was born on Sunday, June 16th, 1957 in Lost City, OK, the son of Columbus and Betty (Bean) Smith. There were plenty of brothers and sisters around to keep life interesting, Stanley, Rex, Cletus, Randy, Jackie, Cora, Clarissa, Joyce, Janell, and Dennia. He was an avid softball player when he was young, and never tired of sports. Later in life, he took up golfing, a game he thoroughly enjoyed. He met and married his soulmate, Tonya Hudson, he raised two sons, Skylar and Rance Smith. Boyd was never one to just sit around, he was constantly working on a project. He made his living working for NSU for 34 years as the Grounds Supervisor, a job he loved. He took great pride in keeping the grounds immaculate and at their very best. When he was at home, you could find Boyd in some sort of project. He enjoyed keeping his property well maintained and was always looking for the next item that needed mending. When he wasn’t working, he was likely to be found at his favorite fishing hole with one of his best friends, Dwight or better yet, spending time with his grandchildren Rence and Rainn. He loved to spend time with his family, and share a tale or two. He enjoyed a quiet afternoon at home, spending time with Tonya and relaxing at the house. Boyd passed all too soon from this life on November 23rd, 2018 at his home surrounded by those he loved. He was 61 years old. He will be greatly missed by many. He is preceded in death by his father Columbus, his beloved son, Rance, and one brother, Randy Smith. Those left to celebrate his life include his wife Tonya of the home. He leaves his son, Skylar Smith and wife Agata of Tahlequah, and two adored grandchildren, Rence and Rainn Smith. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Stanley Smith of Tahlequah, Rex Smith and wife Marie of Tahlequah, Cletus Smith and wife Angie of Shady Grove, Jackie Smith and husband George of Lost City, Cora Smith of Tahlequah, Clarissa Wacoche and husband Ben of Tahlequah, Joyce Pigeon and husband Walter of Welling, Janell Smith of Tahlequah and Dennia Smith also of Tahlequah. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.

Callie Mai (Christie) Jumper was born on Thursday, February 2nd, 1978, in Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Sammie and Shirley Ann (Eastham) Christie. In this family, there was always something fun for them to do. When they weren’t busy, there was nothing better than swimming the river. Callie loved to drive the backroads and turn up the radio, listening to her favorite music while she took in the sights. Callie was an avid reader and loved anything written by Stephen King. On November 7th, 1999, she married her best friend and soul mate, William “Pum”Jumper. Together they shared 19 years of happy memories and raised Fur Baby Slick Jumper and three daughters, Kalyn Christie Jumper, Kaleigh MaiAnn Christie, and Kiley MaiAnn Christie. She was the most loving, kind and wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, aunt, and friend. She was devoted to her children and anything they did was a special treat for Callie. If you wanted to see Callie happy, all you needed was a beautiful day and then surround her with her family and friends, and perhaps a dinner. Then everything was perfect. She was employed at the Office of Veteran Affairs/ Student Affairs. She was a dedicated worker and loved being able to help the people that needed her most. She had a kind and loving heart, a beautiful smile, and a front doors always open to her family and friends attitude. She was of the Christian faith and attended the Church Of Christ in Welling, OK. She was always the person with the bright smile and kind word for all those who needed her. Callie’s time on this earth was all too brief, and the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on Monday, November 19th, 2018 in Tahlequah, OK with her loved ones by her side. Callie was 40 years old, and leaves a void that can never be filled.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, father-in-law, Willie Jumper, brothers-in-law, Brian Jumper and Nicholas Robin Jumper, Grandfather Buck Christie and wife Betty, grandmother Lewdema Haney Rose, Uncles Jess Christie, Junior Christie and wife Edith, Aunt Mary Accord, Niece Darian Elizabeth Jumper, and nephews, Wesley Girty Jr. “Shuggs’, Caden Place, and her very special Fur Baby Slick Jumper. Callies memory will be cherished by her loving husband, William Jumper of the home and her children, Kalyn Christie Jumper of the home, Kaleigh MaiAnn Christie of Tahlequah, OK, and Kiley MaiAnn Christie also of Tahlequah. Obituary for Senator Jim Wilson

Senator Jim Wilson, age 71, died Sunday, November 11, 2018, in his home after a short aggressive battle with cancer. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on March 9, 1947, to Joel and Mary Wilson.
Jim is survived by his wife Connie, three children; David Moore Jr., Kim Broadhurst and her husband David and Jamie Halfacre. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brandon Broadhurst, Kylee Broadhurst, Blake Broadhurst, and Alex Gulley; his brother John Wilson and Jean of Dane, Wisconsin.
Jim graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1965. He served in the Marine Corps from 1966 to January of 1968, almost thirteen months of which was in Vietnam. Upon returning, he attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
Jim worked as a statistical analyst for the Oklahoma Crime Commission and then later pursued a career as a self-employed computer programmer for mainframe and mini computers. Later he formed a retail company, Quality Data Products.
In 1987, Jim married the love of his life Connie Thompson. His love for Connie brought him to Tahlequah, a place he would call home. His love for Tahlequah would set his course for public service and countless hours of community service.
In 2000, Jim was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, in which he served two terms. In 2004 he was then elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in which he served two terms.
After retiring, Jim served on multiple boards of CASA, The Thompson House, NEO Health, Cherokee County Health Coalition, Cherokee County Jail, Tahlequah Public Schools, and NORA (Northeastern Oklahoma Regional Alliance). He was an active member of the Tahlequah Kiwanis Club and served as president in 2013-14. He also served as an officer and active member of American Legion Post 50 in Tahlequah.
Jim loved his family and the city of Tahlequah where he worked tirelessly and selflessly for the betterment of its community. He will be missed by many.

Obituary for Alice Florine Carey

Funeral services Alice “Flo” Carey, 79, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, are 10:00 am, Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Family of Faith Church. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Carey and Reverend Alan McBride. Pallbearers are James McGee, Joseph Wyers, Jonathan Seay, Christopher Dry, Cheyenne McBride, and Kevin Vann. Interment will follow in the Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma, under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Online condolences for the family may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.

Alice Florine Carey was born in Vian, Oklahoma, on March 16, 1939, the third of eight children to Clifton and Maude (Ross) Risley. She passed away in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years 7 months and 24 days. Alice grew up in Vian and attended Box School. She married Willie Gene “Pigeon” Carey on December 2, 1968. She was a charter member of Family Christian Church, a member of Family Faith Church, and was a student of the Word of God.

Self educated, Alice loved to read, quilt, play the guitar, sing gospel, fish, cook and do gardening.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gene Carey in 2011; her parents, Clifton and Maude Carey; brothers, Donald Risley and Roy Risley; and daughter in law, Sheila McBride.

She is survived by her children whom she loved, Debra McBride, Mike McBride of Tahlequah, Susan Dry Shepherd of Tahlequah, Alan McBride and wife Lissa of Tahlequah, Tim McBride of Welling, and Tony McBride and wife Sabrina of Arkansas; seventeen grandchildren; eight special grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; three brothers, Carmal Risley, Robert Risley, and Norman Risley; two sisters, Aleene Laymon, and Shirley Kellog-Mallon; and a host of other friends and loved ones who she will be greatly missed by.

Spending time with her family was very important to Alice.

Funeral services for Carolyn Ruth DuVall, 80, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma will be 10:00 am Saturday November 10, 2018, at Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Duain Maxwell and Brother Don Martin. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Copeland, Jonathan Dickson, Chris DuVall, Jacob Dickson, Kenneth DuVall and Kyle Holt. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Sulzen, Brian DuVall and Jackie Dick. Carolyn will be laid to rest in the Hendrix Cemetery under the care of Green Country Funeral Home. Carolyn Ruth DuVall was born July 3, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Orville and Irene (Taylor) Rill. She passed peacefully on November 7, 2018, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Carolyn married Edgar DuVall on July 7, 1956, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and grandmother.

Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, and traveling with her family. She also enjoyed collecting dolls, painted horses, and precious moments.

She was a faithful member of the United Pentecostal Church of Tahlequah for 51 years.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Irene Rill; two sisters, Evalina Ethier and Jean Rogers; and three brothers, Harlin Rill, Lewis Rill and Darrell Rill.

She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Edgar DuVall; four children, Chester DuVall and wife Francis, Mitchell DuVall and wife Melody, Bethanie Copeland and husband Michael all of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Elaine Dick and husband Jackie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; Jonathan Dickson, Jessica Holt, Laura DuVall, Joshua Dickson, Chris DuVall, Chelsey Gration, Brittanie and Bindie Copeland, and three great grandsons; nieces and nephews and extended family members, friends, and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her
