Cherry Lee (Stocum) Candy was born Sunday, November 18, 1945 in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of Merle Leroy Stocum and Mary (Cherry) Winstead. After graduating high school, Cherry pursued her passion and receiving her certification in Cosmetology. She married the love of her life, Floyd Candy and together, they were blessed with Gina, Kevin, Debra and Floyd Michael. Cherry loved her family and loved God with all her heart. Church was not just a social event on Sundays, but a 24 hour occurrence for anyone that would share and listen in a conversation of God’s goodness. She could strike a conversation with just about anyone and posessed a heart of gold. Her genuine kindness was a shining light to all that surrounded her. Cherry made life fun and lived life to the fullest. Cherry was a bit of a gambler, she was always up for an afternoon of bingo or invited the family over for her delicious roast dinner. She had an amazing voice and played the piano; she even wrote a few of her own songs. She loved to listen to gospel music and good ol’ country music, her favorites being Elvis and Garth Brooks, just to name a few. When she wasn’t burning up the town, she enjoyed watching “feel good” movies on the Hallmark channel, and many others. Cherry was an avid collector of angels and had them displayed in every room of her home. On Thursday, March 5th, 2020, Cherry passed away; closing her eyes on earth to be greeted with Heavenly Angels and her Lord and Savior. Though we celebrate her passing, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cherry has went on to join her parents, her husband, Floyd, her daughter, Gina Lynn Jones, her infant daughter, Debra Sue Candy, one son, Floyd Michael Candy, one sister, Phyllis Filetti and one grandchild, Joshua Michael Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Kevin L. Salazar and wife Sheila of Cleveland, OK, two sisters, Renee Robinson; Walli Smith Daniels and husband Bobby of Tulsa, OK. Her legacy lives on through her three grandchildren, Mitchell Lee Salazar and wife Samantha of Tulsa, OK, Tiffany Ann Woodrell and husband Ricky of Broken Arrow, OK, and Chris Beck and wife Ashly of Sand Springs, OK, along with her cherished great-grandson, Wyatt Alan Woodrell and one great grand-child on the way, William Lee Salazar, and great-grandchildren, Lacie Beck, Kelton Beck, Madison Beck, and Kissac Beck, special friends, Charlotte Ulrich, Pam Setser and Wanda Hall as well as many more family and friends too numerous to mention. Cherry is rejoicing with all her family above, she is truly missed and loved.
