John Burke McSpadden was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on September 1, 1940 to J.A. and Pearl (Cooper) McSpadden. He passed away peacefully in his sleep June 3, 2019. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care rendered from Nurse Heather Wilson and all those working for Help at Home. They were angels in disguise of caring women, too numerous to name who loved, laughed with and encouraged Burke during the last three years of his life.
Burke grew up in Tahlequah and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 1958. He attended Northeastern State College and Southwestern State College, graduating from the School of Pharmacy in 1963. He then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he was a hospital pharmacist at the Colorado General Hospital for over four decades until his retirement.
Burke enjoyed life and was a shining ight for those who knew him. He enjoyed eating out, the Denver Broncos and OU football, visiting with his friends, especially his Fantasy Football League friends and family throughout his life. He traveled extensively and enjoyed rafting rivers with his sister, brother-in-law and nephews Clint and Jon Boone. His claim to fame was rafting the Colorado River twice.
John was preceded in death by his parents A.J. (Smokey) and Pearl Dona (Cooper) McSpadden.
He is survived by his brother Jim McSpadden and wife Peggy Jo of Chewey, Oklahoma; sister, Anita and husband David Boone of San Tan Valley, Arizona; he had 6 adoring nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; 4 great great nieces; and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to United Cerebral Palsey,@ucp.org or Parkinson’s Research@BaehrChallenge.org.
