Betty Jane Loftin Myres was born on Thursday, April 23rd, 1931 in Hulbert, OK, the daughter of Charley and Virginia “Virgie” Victoria (Scott) Loftin. She was raised in a family with four brothers and four sisters, Tom, Pete, Sue, Jim, Bob, Ruby, Daisy and Hazel. She attended and graduated from Hulbert High School, then began her college classes at NSU. While walking to the movies, she met a handsome young man who offered to accompany her, and that’s how Betty met Willie Lee Myres. They were wed on January 5th, 1954 in Tahlequah, OK, and together they raised a daughter, Sherrie and a son, Lee Steven. They were each others constant companions for 60 years of marriage. Betty was a homemaker by choice, nothing made her happier than to take care of Bill, the children and grandchildren. She loved working in her flower gardens, searching family genealogy and spending time reading a good scary book. Betty could go in the thrift stores and come out with the cutest fashions, especially shoes. There was nothing better than a day at the creek swimming with her family, or making homemade blackberry jam. Betty was intelligent, organized, serious and down to earth. She kept her household running like clockwork. She loved her family and fur babies along with every chance she had to enjoy a meal or holiday with her family. She was inquisitive and always kept informed of the latest news of the world and how it affected her and those she loved. Her beloved Bill passed from this life in October 2017, and Betty stayed close to the family she loved for support. Her journey ended on November 25th, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 87 years old. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty is preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, Thomas and Susie Scott and Cornelius and Nancy (Burris) Loftin, her brothers, Pete and Tom, and her sisters, Sue Burgess, Ruby Kerns, Daisy Mosher, and Hazel Partain. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sherrie Walker and husband Cliff of Siloam Springs, AR, and Lee Steven Myres and wife Kristi of Welling, OK. She leaves her siblings, Jim Loftin and wife Jewel of Tahlequah, and Bob Loftin of Coyle, OK. She lives on in her two granddaughters, Kylee Myres and Krista Myres also of Welling and a very special niece, Pam Vahdatipour and husband Hamid of Tahlequah, OK, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
