Obituary for Hurst "Hershel" Faucett III

Hurst “Hershel” Faucett III was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 18, 1941, to Hurst Faucett Jr. And Mittie (Kyle) Faucett.

He passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 5, 2018, at the age of 76 years 11 months and 16 days.

Hershel grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama where he graduated high school. He entered and served in the National Guard, US Army and Army Reserve.

He and Rose married in Columbus, Georgia on December 28, 1968.

He attended Auburn University ..........“Go War Eagles”.

Hershel began work in the grocery business and did so for 27 years working up to store manager.
He would then open his own landscaping company, Faucett and Son Landscaping. He was also CEO of NCADC.....the Navarro County Agency for Disabled Citizens for 15 years. He and Rose were house parents there taking care of mentally challenged adults


Hershel retired from Northeastern Health System after going back to work, because he did not find retired life as enjoyable as expected.

Hershel loved his Yorkies, old cars, and keeping his flower beds clean and free of weeds.

He was a member of the Shriners where he held the office of President, a member of the Lions Club, and Optimist Club, and the Braums Ice Cream Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Hurst Faucett IV.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 50 years, Rose Marie Faucett; nine children, Traci Varner and husband Larry, Rodney Faucett, Rita Rash and husband Lowell, Debbie Beckett, Jolene Rash and husband Darrell, Heather Martin and husband Josh, Michele Duckson and husband Tim, David Faucett and wife Davina, Umesh Shakya and wife Anita; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three siblings, Brenda Michael, Glenna Youngblood and husband Roy, and Kirby Faucett and wife Sharon; several nieces and nephews and many other friends.
