services for Donald Gene Thornton 76, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, are
2:00 pm Wednesday April 17, 2019, at Green Country Funeral Home with his
final resting place being Fort Gibson Cemetery.
Don was born July 12, 1942, in Fort Gibson to Troy and Martha Ann (Gillespie) Thornton. He passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home.
Don worked for Cook Construction since the early 1990's as a crane flagger and rigger. Don is a life-long resident of Cherokee County and enjoyed spending time with his family, working with horses, and hunting with the boys.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; a loving brother, Troy Lee Thornton; and brother-in-law, Earl Smith.
Don is survived by his son, Travis Gene Thornton and wife Jan; his daughter, Trina Lynn Clark and husband Rusty; sisters, Joann Thornton Smith, Leona (Tootsie) Thornton Henderson and husband Phillip Henderson; his six grandchildren, Rodney Thornton and wife Christine, Garrett Thornton and wife Nikki, Morgan Cox, Trent Cox, Ethan Clark, Alex Clark and wife Rachel; two great grandchildren, Ryan Thornton and Eliza Belle Clark. Don was Uncle Nonnie to Troy Don Thornton, Lisa Williams, Sue Edwards, Tricia Reese, Bobby Smith, Jon Henderson and Terri Fields; as well as many friends and loves ones.
