Obituary for Rudy Joe Briggs
Rudy
Joe Briggs was born February 4th, 1943 in Cherokee County and died
October 5, 2019, in Muskogee, OK. He attended school at Slate Bluff
before moving to Blackwell. Rudy was a graduate of Blackwell High where
he played football and wrestled.
A life long lawman, Rudy retired in 2005 after 43 years of service, his final eight as sheriff of Wagoner County.
He enjoyed horses, motorcycle riding, and tinkering with “stuff” as he took care of his farm, He also enjoyed visiting with friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three children William “Bill” Harold Briggs, Jerry Butts, and Kathy Prado; and brothers and sisters, Trulin Briggs, Lois Nuckolls, and Dale Briggs.
Rudy is survived by Sarah, his wife of 38 years; children Rudy Briggs Jr (Melissa) of Alva, OK, and Darleen Carver of Dacoma, OK; 11 Grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister Evelyn Briggs Newman (Don); and a host of relatives, friends, and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rudy's memory.
