Subject: 2020 Homeless Point-in-Time Survey

The Northeast Oklahoma Homeless Continuum of Care is conducting its annual point-in-time homeless survey in order to gather information about the number of homeless individuals in Northeast Oklahoma and the resources available to provide services to these people.

In order to accurately assess the scope of homelessness in our region, we are asking you to participate by completing the enclosed survey to indicate the number of homeless individuals encountered by your agency on January 23, 2020.  While many of you are not homeless service providers, most of you encounter homeless persons on a daily basis, even if you do not provide services to them.  It is important to us to gather accurate data on both sheltered individuals and families (those in homeless facilities) and unsheltered homeless individuals and families who are living/sleeping in places not meant for human habitation, such as in cars, abandoned buildings, on the streets, in the parks, etc.  We ask all law enforcement agencies, schools, park staff and other community agencies to help us by locating and counting the homeless individuals in your community or facility on January 23rd.  We also ask all shelter providers to provide information in regards to the number of beds you have available, the number of persons sheltered and any expansion plans you have for the next year.

Your participation and input is critical in helping us to determine the extent of homelessness in Northeast Oklahoma and will help us determine what resources and services are needed to address the needs of the homeless in our region.  With this information, we can support the need for federal funding to help reduce homelessness.

Remember!  January 23, 2020 is the day to think about the homeless in our region and assist them by helping us.  Complete your surveys indicating the number of homeless individuals in your community/at your agency on that day!
