Betty Jean Padgett-Wolfe was born on Saturday, November 19th, 1927, the daughter of Perry Padgett and Lucy (Rider) Duck, in Adair County, OK. She grew up with three brothers and four sisters, Roy , Wilson, Nicky, Eva, Narci, Wilma, and Jacqueline. She attended school at Chilocco Indian School in Newkirk, OK, and then decided to raise her family. She was the proud mother of Gordon, Michael, Darwin, Barbara and Donna. She was the best mother and grandmother you could ever find. Her hands were never idle, and she made the most beautiful quilts with intricate patterns. Every family member received many cherished quilts. She spent hours in her garden, enjoying the fresh air. She kept her house ready for anyone needing a meal, or just a cup of coffee, the door was always open. She was a devout Christian, who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and a lifetime member of Mulberry Baptist Church .She read her Bible often and loved to sing the old gospel favorites. She was a dedicated prayer warrior, and a blessing to all those around her. She was so proud of her Cherokee Heritage and a fluent Cherokee speaker. There was the twinkle in her eye and the way she laughed or told a joke that made her so much fun to be around. Her most prized treasure on earth was her family, there was never a time when gathering them all together wasn’t the best time in the world for her. When her grandchildren came along, there were five of the most loved and adored people ever running in her yard. Her great grandchildren also had the undying love and pride of Grandma Betty. The Lord called this wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother home from all her labors on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020 in Tahlequah, OK with her loved ones gathered close to her side. She was 92 years old. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, grandparents, son Gordon Wolfe and his wife, Jodi, and son-in-law, Lewis Flynn, three brothers, Roy, Wilson, and Nicky Johnson, and four sisters, Eva Johnson, Narci Lee Johnson, Wilma Brown, and Jackie Branch. Those left to celebrate this wonderful woman’s life include her children, Michael Dale Wolfe and wife Elaine of Tahlequah, OK, Darwin Kal Wolfe of Stilwell, Barbara Renee Flynn of Stilwell, and Donna Wolfe of Tahlequah. She leaves five grandchildren, Jillian Wolfe of Tahlequah, Anthony Wolfe of Pryor, LeAnn Green of Tahlequah, Nick Summers of Tahlequah, and Jason Summers also of Tahlequah. She lives on in her 12 great grandchildren, Gage Girty, Landen Girty, Jake Girty, Shelby Whittington, Chris Green, Hannah Wolfe, Autumn Summers, Ellie Summers, Gunner Summers, Lela Summers, Jaylee Summers, and Macy Minnix , as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones, and church family far too numerous to mention.
