Funeral services for Raymond John will be held Tuesday, September 15th, 2020 at 10:00am at Reed-Culver Chapel with Reverend Bill Pettit officiating. His visitation will be held Monday, September 14th, 2020 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at Reed-Culver Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.reedculver.com.

Raymond John was born on Friday, December 18th, 1953 in Farmington, NM. He was the son of Wilbert Sr. and Ida (Meyers) John. He grew up with five brothers and four sisters, Wilbert Jr., James, Alfred, Reuben, Hugh, Pauline, Betty, Marie, and Bertha. Raymond was the jokester of the family. He enjoyed a good laugh or fellowship with other believers over bible study. KNDN Navajo music could always be heard playing. From a young age, Raymond had a gift for sharing the gospel. He never missed an opportunity witness whether through song or word to his family and friends. During his time in New Mexico, his faith shown as a beacon and was a shepherd to the Navajo people. He held many bible studies and translated bible lessons into the Navajo language. His ministry would continue, even after moving to his home in Tahlequah. He was a faithful member of the Long Prairie Baptist Church. One of his most favorite places to be was church or a good gospel singing. Though he was a disciple of the word all his life, he proudly earned his minister’s license through Long Prairie and was always willing to step in to assist his pastor. Raymond gained his heavenly reward on Thursday, September 10th, 2020 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 23 days. Raymond was a strong man of faith and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert Sr. and Ida John, his beloved wife Amy, and five siblings, Reuben, Hugh, and Marie Yazzie, and Bertha and Alfred John.

Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, Wilbert John Jr. of Upper Fruitland, NM, and James John of Aztec, NM, and two sisters, Pauline McCauley of Farmington, NM, and Betty Cummings of Tahlequah, OK. He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Breanne Begaye of Rose, OK, as well as a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
